When guests come and visit, it’s only natural you want to make sure your home is looking its best. However, the bathroom is usually the last room to get any attention as it is often deemed one of the hardest places to revamp.

To take the pressure off we’ve put together our tips for making over this space before family and friends descend.

Grout Expectations

If you have a tiled shower that is a few years old, the grout may put a dampener on any efforts to spruce up the room. Make light work of this grubby task by using the high acidity powers of lemon juice. Rub it onto the surface and leave for 10 minutes to dissolve stubborn stains, then simply wipe with a damp cloth. Alternatively you can pick up a grout whitening pen from a local DIY store. This works like a felt tip to add a sparkling white coating, instantly revamping the area.

Upgrade your Shower

You don’t have to completely renovate your bathroom to incorporate a new shower unit, especially if you have an electric model. Even if you’ve been putting it off, now’s the time to install something new to impress visitors. Many electric showers, including our T80 Pro-Fit, have been specifically designed to replace older products without leaving behind scarred tiles or screw holes. Speak to a local installer to see what would work for your home.

A Pop of Colour

A fresh set of towels in a bold colour tone will immediately lift the interior and you could also adorn the window sill with some vivid green houseplants to add interest, while purifying the air. Adding a basket or wire crate crammed full of toiletries and little luxuries will also help guests to feel right at home.

Super Spares

If time is tight, then simply swapping your shower head, changing the shower riser rail or replacing the hose can make a big difference to your interior. These are hardworking elements of showers so upgrading them to chrome, or even sticking with simple white, will add a crisp look. You could also opt for a multi-pattern showerhead, offering something for everyone. Many of these include a removable spray plate, making it easier to clean away limescale. This is particularly handy if you live in a hard water area.
