Frequently Asked Questions
How Do I Install An Electric Shower?
Products manufactured by Triton are safe and without risk when installed, used, and maintained in good working order in accordance with our instructions and recommendations. It is always best to use a professional installer and to read our product-specific installation guides, as installation can vary by model.
How Do Electric Showers Work?
Triton electric showers work by taking cold mains water, heating it instantly with powerful internal heating elements as it flows through, and delivering it on demand, with temperature controlled by adjusting the flow rate (slower flow = hotter water) or using power/temperature settings. Models vary from basic power/temperature dials to advanced digital interfaces with settings like eco-mode, cold rinse, and thermostatic control to maintain a consistent temperature despite other household water use, plus safety features like RCD protection and low-pressure warnings.
How Do I Replace My Electric Shower?
Recommended replacement showers are based on the same-side water and electrical entry points (i.e., left-hand or right-hand), the kW rating, and the water supply. All recommended replacement showers are based on models with the same or similar footprint to minimise cosmetic differences. Where it is not possible to replace with the same model, several factors will need to be considered. See our Shower Replacement Services.
What Are The Benefits Of An Electric Shower?
An electric shower heats water instantly using a built-in heating element, drawing cold water directly from your mains supply. This means you only heat the water you use, making it an energy-efficient and water-saving choice for any home. Electric showers are ideal if you want a reliable hot shower without relying on your boiler – perfect for busy households or properties with limited hot water storage. Are higher kW electric showers more powerful?
Higher kW electric showers can heat water more quickly, which often allows for a stronger flow rate at a comfortable temperature. However, overall performance will also depend on your home’s water pressure and electrical supply.
Choosing the right kW rating is about balancing performance with what your installation can safely support. At Triton, we offer electric shower units with power ratings ranging from 7.5kW to 10.5kW. A qualified electrician can advise on the most suitable kW rating for your home.
What Is The Best Electric Shower?
The best electric shower depends on your home and preferences. Factors such as water pressure, required kW rating, design, and whether you want thermostatic temperature control all play a part.
Triton has been at the forefront of the showering industry for more than five decades. So, you can rely on us to offer a wide range of best-in-class electric and thermostatic electric showers to suit your bathrooms and requirements.
